Our Macedonian team reports recent positive developments in entrepreneurial education.
Since 2012, the Ministry of Education and Science, with the European Training Foundation, has been developing a strategy to enhance the teaching of entrepreneurial skills. It has consulted with a wide range of stakeholders - state institutions, chambers of commerce, young entrepreneurs and schools - and held a series of special workshops to formulate a comprehensive and effective strategy.
The strategy has five main pillars:
- Primary education
- Secondary education
- Higher Education
- Informal and non-formal education
- Young entrepreneurs
Leveraging technology and the exchange of best practices, it aims to increase awareness of entrepreneurial learning, while promoting systematic reform and the ongoing development of teachers.
In 2014, the strategy and action plan was formally adopted. Several indicators from the GEM Adult Population Survey (APS) and National Experts Survey (NES) are to be used to monitor its implementation.
