On Friday, August 14 2009 ESPAE presented the Report of the Global
Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Ecuador 2008 within the context of the Third
Conference on Entrepreneurship Research.
Results were presented by Guido Caicedo, former Director of the
Entrepreneurship Center of ESPOL and co- author of the GEM Ecuador Report.

This is the second time that the GEM study has been carried out in
Ecuador, confirming that the entrepreneurial activity is high in this
country. The GEM study also
determined Ecuadorian entrepreneurs motivations, their job creation expectancy,
and showed experts’ recommendations in order to strengthen the entrepreneurial
ecosystem.
Directors of the GEM project in other countries - Jan Lepoutre of the
Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School in Belgium and José Ernesto Amorós of
Universidad del Desarrollo in
Chile- were attending the GEM Ecuador results presentation. Representatives of government offices
like the Secretary of Production (MIPRO) and the National Finance Corporation
were also present as well as the local government of the Pichincha province,
the National Council of Formation and Training (CNCF), representatives of other
universities, faculty, entrepreneurs, and researches, among others.
