On 26 February, the global entrepreneurship community will gather in Monterrey, Mexico, for the GEM 2025/2026 Annual Meeting and Global Report Launch. As the world’s most comprehensive longitudinal evidence based on entrepreneurship, this unparalleled global research will be unveiled this year at Tecnológico de Monterrey, hosted in collaboration with GEM Mexico and the Instituto de Emprendimiento Eugenio Garza Lagüera. For those unable to attend in person, the Global Launch will be live streamed starting at 4:00 PM (CET) on Thursday, 26 February. You can join the session by visiting this link.
Representing 53 participating economies and over 57% of global GDP, this year’s report arrives at a critical point for the global economy. Following last year’s "Reality Check" in Bilbao, Spain - which identified a global paradox of high innovation aspirations met by significant AI uncertainty - the 2025/2026 report provides an unparalleled look at how entrepreneurs are transitioning within an uncertain business context to create an increasing number of businesses across the globe while tackling significant strategic challenges
Advancing the Global Dialogue
The 2025/2026 GEM Annual Meeting and Global Report Launch is hosted by GEM Mexico at Tecnológico de Monterrey through Instituto de Emprendimiento Eugenio Garza Lagüera. Recognized internationally for excellence and as a leader in Latin America, Tec de Monterrey has driven Mexico’s contribution to GEM for over two decades.
“GEM Mexico has been a key contributor to entrepreneurship research for 20 years, setting a strong example of how a GEM Team can drive impact at both national and regional levels,” said GEM Executive Director Aileen Ionescu-Somers. “The Report Launch and Annual Meeting will be a fantastic opportunity to bring the GEM community together in a dynamic, action-oriented academic environment, to engage with stakeholders shaping Mexico’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and unpack the key insights from GEM’s research.”
The event follows the successful 2025 launch in Bilbao, Spain. José Manuel Aguirre, GEM Mexico Team Co-Leader, looks forward to building on that energy. "Tecnológico de Monterrey is a national hub for innovation," Aguirre noted. "Attendees will experience first-hand how entrepreneurship is embedded into the city’s ecosystem, from our innovation-driven strategies to our dedicated entrepreneurship district."
The 2025/2026 Global Report in Numbers
GEM is the only global research source that collects data on entrepreneurship directly from the source. This unique methodology maps the motivations, ambitions, and social attitudes of entrepreneurs worldwide.
This year, the report leverages a global data set of unparalleled scale:
-
160,000+ Adult Population Survey respondents
-
2,000+ National Expert Survey contributors
-
370+ technical experts and researchers
The Report also features GEM’s National Entrepreneurship Context Index (NECI), which evaluates the entrepreneurial framework of each participating economy. Based on scores provided by national experts across a set of Entrepreneurial Framework Conditions, the NECI is an invaluable tool for benchmarking ecosystems, either regionally or globally.
A Legacy of Global Influence
Historically, GEM Global Report launch events have been held in key cities around the world, serving as high-level platforms for global dialogue. Most recently, the launch was hosted in Bilbao, Spain (2025), by GEM Spain and GEM Basque Country. Previous host locations include Morocco (2024), Switzerland (2023) at the School of Management Fribourg (HEG-FR), and Dubai (2022), hosted by the UAE Ministry of Economy at Expo 2020.
Key audiences that engage with this prestigious event include regional and national policymakers, academic researchers, decision-makers at international organizations, entrepreneurs, and journalists - all of whom are central to the host country's entrepreneurship ecosystem.
