Congratulations to Rolf Sternberg (pictured to the right) for his remarkable contributions over the past 25 years of GEM’s history! After 24 years leading GEM Germany, Sternberg has decided to turn over leadership to Christian Hundt and Florian Täube. Over the years, Sternberg has been involved in the authorship of 25 different reports (24 GEM Germany National Reports and the European Regional Report).
“My credo as a leader of GEM Germany over 24 years has been lean management; for the majority of years the team consisted of one doctoral student and myself,” Sternberg explained. “We’ve also focused on cost-efficiency, research output by publishing GEM-based papers in highly reputed journals, and autonomy.”
Sternberg has been involved with GEM since 1998 when the project was piloted by Paul Reynolds, Bill Bygrave and Michael Hay.
"It has been exciting to see how the GEM family has grown during the first quarter of a century,” Sternberg said. “It is a remarkable accomplishment to go from six countries to as many as 70 in 2014, and stabilising at a healthy level of about 50 countries in recent years, still the largest research consortium on entrepreneurship worldwide.”
Sternberg will still be involved as a member of the GEM Germany Team.
“My wish for GEM, both in Germany and elsewhere, is to continue being the most influential research consortium addressing entrepreneurship around the world.”
