The GEM Romania 2023/2024 National Report provides an in-depth analysis of entrepreneurial activity, motivations, and the conditions shaping Romania’s business ecosystem. The findings reveal a decline in overall entrepreneurial activity compared to previous years, with many Romanians starting businesses primarily out of necessity rather than opportunity. Financial security and livelihood remain the strongest drivers, while innovation and the use of advanced technologies are still limited. The report also emphasizes that, although access to finance has improved, significant challenges remain in entrepreneurship education, government programs, and long-term ecosystem development.
